The FLAX BREAK. A wooden device for chopping flax straw when  processing flax into linen thread.

This flax break is made of oak and is a reproduction of a 19th century flax break. Both are owned by a fellow artisan.

We made patterns of the original in order to make this reproduction and will gladly make one for you.  We can also work with your original or photographs.

Pictured is a hand-carved poplar yoke for carrying.

Each yoke is carved from a single piece of poplar. Yokes can be custom fit and come with ropes and a pair of hand-forged iron hooks for fastening the buckets.
